SMARTIA M7 – engineered for demanding applications
The M7 is part of the Alumil SMARTIA range, With a consistent 50mm external profile width and curtain walling mullion and transom depths up to 250mm deep, M7 provides the load-bearing capacity required for exposed, multi-storey and large-span glazed façades, with the same external sightlines throughout.
Mullion and transom construction is designed for easy site installation making this system ideal not just for commercial projects. You can also use it in modern houses featuring a glazing staircase screen and gallery landing.
Structural capacity that adapts to the project
Mullion and transom depths can be increased where structural loading requires additional capacity, allowing M7 to adapt to varied building heights and exposure levels without leaving the same profile family. This flexibility means the same system addresses residential double-height spaces, feature stairwells and glazed gables alongside commercial façades and multi-storey office buildings.
Doors, projected windows, tilt and turn windows and fixed glazing all integrate within the same M7 façade. Opening elements use compatible profiles and hardware giving a unified appearance and consistent performance across every fixed and opening section, rather than assembled elements that simply happen to be adjacent.
Thermal and acoustic performance
M7 delivers thermal performance through polyamide thermal breaks, insulated chambers and appropriate glazing specifications. U-values can comfortably meet and exceed UK Building Regulations requirements, varying by system configuration, mullion depth and glass specification. We specify appropriate performance targets during project planning based on building type and energy requirements.
Acoustic performance benefits directly from the insulation and sealing measures. Curtain walling specified with appropriate glazing provides meaningful sound reduction which is relevant in urban commercial buildings and residential projects near roads or railways where external noise is a material consideration.
Personalisation Options
Alumil M7 curtain walling is available in the full range of Qualicoat powder coated colours or Qualinod Anodised finishes, alongside dual-colour options where internal and external colours differ. Double and triple glazing are both supported, with glass specifications chosen based on energy requirements, acoustic needs and structural capacity. Toughened or laminated glass is used where required.
Low-iron, solar control and structural glass can be accommodated where project requirements demand enhanced specifications. Glazing is beaded from inside across all units, simplifying manufacture and allowing glass replacement without removing the frame.
